Dandi Beach near Navsari

18 kilometers from the main city of Navsari is this historically popular beach called Dandi. A part of the Jalalpore area in Navsari district, it shot into worldwide prominence in 1930 when Mahatma Gandhi selected it to be the place for the Salt Satyagraha. He marched from Ahmedabad to Dandi with some of his followers to protest against the imposition of a tax on salt. Thousands of people participated. This turns out to be an ideal place to spend an evening in the middle of peace and tranquility. There are plans to develop it as a tourist hub by the Government of India.

Andheshwar Mahadev Temple in Navsari

35 kilometers from Dandi is the Andheshwar Mahadev Temple which is located in the town of Amalsad. It is an immensely popular temple among the people of South Gujarat. It is spread over a large area and also has a special section dedicated to the 12 Jyotirlingas across the country. The main temple area is full of people during the evenings for the ‘Aarti.’ It also has a parking lot, Dharamshala for people to stay as well as a garden for the children to play. The location of the place is extremely ideal as it is well connected to road as well as rail.

Somnath Mahadev Temple in Navsari

Located 5 kilometers from Amalsad and the next stop of the journey is the largest Mahadev Temple of South Gujarat which is the Somnath Mahadev Temple. It is one of the ‘Swyambhu Lingas’ of Lord Shiva. The peak of the temple that is the 108 feets can be seen from the Arabian Sea. It organizes a month log Shravan Mela in the temple complex which draws footfalls close to 30 lakh annually. The temple complex also has a guest house for the visitors to be accommodated.

Waghai in Navsari

65 kilometers from Billimora and close to the famous hill station of Sapurtara is the town of Waghai. It is connected to the main town of Billimora through a narrow railway gauge. There are many places to visit in Waghai which include the picturesque Gira Falls, the Botanical Garden, the Unnai Mata Temple and Hot Water Springs, the Vanil Udyog and the Vansda National Park which is a famous wildlife tourist destination.
